Artist's Comments

To start: This was an original design ( seen here) for a fan film a friend of mine wrote. I had the black smocked velvet on hand from my days at Denver Fabrics and then added the colors of charmeuse and organza for this project. I'm not in love with it. It came out how I wanted, but I'm not jazzed about the blue in the skirt, or the layers of ruffles, but it really came down to pleasing the director and since her preferences tend toward the Victorian (she wanted me to design a very Victorian/Civil War mixed dress. Set size restraints killed that idea real quick.) I ended up in ruffles.

Details:
Sewn on my Bernina. Base of a black satin corset, then a teal colored shirt with long sleeves, then the jacket. The skirt is in two layers. An underskirt in a different blue/green and then the black based ruffle skirt. I was hoping that the black under layer would darken the finished product as a whole, but unfortunately, it's just too darn sparkly.

I didn't have the time I wanted to do all of the embellishments I was hoping for, but perhaps later I"ll get around to adding them. I doubt it though since I'm not real thrilled with this project.

Do not meddle in the affairs of slashers, for you are cute, and would look good with another guy.

I think it came out great! Very Padméish. You're right, the hair is the best part! I love it! Great job on all of it.

That's a very cool skirt. Gorgeous colours.

Thank you so much! I think I'm mostly just frustrated that I feel like my initial design was taken and tweaked beyond my tastes. It would have been one thing if someone else was paying for the dress, but since I was.... yeah.
