Oh, and since Disney purchased LucasFilm and announced they want to do Star Wars Ep VII, I'm going to start pimping myself hard core to try and get an audition.

Star Wars Day!

So far I've had a fairly decent response to the Steampunk clothing I've been making. Stuff sells better in person than online, but I'm hoping things pick up in my Etsy store soon as there aren't any more cons coming up in my near future and I need income!
I have custom clothing tags in all my stuff now, and a new embroidery machine so I can start making fun little embellishments on things.
Personal sewing checklist: (x marks completed)
Fireside gown V2.0 (new details discovered on skirt that required redrafting)
Arena Costume V1 (pattern drafted and fabrics aquired. Waiting on hard bits)
Deanna Troi dress V2.0 (now with accurate fabric!)
Ceremonial gown V4.0
God jacket V2.0 and skirt updates
Trillian V2.0
Knit wrap robe
Leia buns (this has been on my list for a few years now...heh)

Post MidSouthCon Update

Ok, so that comment I made in my last journal about taking pictures of things as I complete them? Well, it seems I overlooked a lovely crimson underbust corset, the matching pinstriped bustle skirt and a few pairs of arm warmers. All of those items, of course, sold.
The things that I did remember to photograph have been added. I did pretty well last weekend, if I do say so myself. I set up shop with 9 jewelry items, 5 pairs of sleeves (arm warmers), 1 corset, 3 purses, 3 jackets, 3 tops, and 4 skirts. There was one skirt that I had fallen in love with and almost didn't sell, but after looking at a half naked display mannequin, I decided to put it on display and see what kind of response it got. It didn't last 10 minutes. This woman ended up buying it almost immediately.
Anyway, I came home with 2 purses, 1 jacket, 3 pairs of sleeves, and 8 jewelry items that have all been posted here and listed in my Etsy store. Yeah, I finally broke down and made an Etsy store.
So now I have to complete the garment construction for T&P for the fashion design competition cocktail party on the 9th. Plus this weekend an old friend is coming to town to help me re-photograph my portfolio. More updates on that when its done. Then the weekend of the 15th my Mom is coming for a visit. I'm hoping to get a few things checked off my sewing list before then as she and I are likely to go fabric shopping when she's in town, and I'll never get anything for myself done after that.

MidSouth Con and other projects

I've been chained to my sewing machine lately preparing merch bits and bobs for upcoming MidSouth Con. I've also been making garments for Tidwell & Perryman's entry into a local Nashville designers contest. Fortunately, the two events do not fall on the same weekend.
My hope is that after MidSouth Con is over I'll have time to post a ton of pictures of the various things I've made. I'm taking pictures as I go, but not sparing the minutes to post them every where. I'm writing this journal update while cooking dinner, actually.
